Share a folder

  1. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
  2. Open the Sharing tab and click Share.

  1. If needed, click Advanced Sharing to configure the share name and permissions.

  1. On the Security tab, click Edit and grant the required permissions. Choose Full Control if Owlfiles should be able to edit and delete files.

Find your username

Open Settings. Your account name is shown at the top of the window.

Use your Windows account password when connecting. Owlfiles cannot connect to a password-protected share using only a PIN.

Open Settings. The computer name is shown near the top of the window.

Find your IP address

  1. Open Command Prompt.
  2. Run ipconfig.
  3. Find the IPv4 address for the network connection you are using.

Turn on network discovery and file sharing

  1. Open Control Panel and go to Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.

  1. Select your active network.

  1. Click Change advanced sharing settings.

  1. Turn on Network discovery and File and printer sharing.
  2. Configure Password protected sharing for your network, then save the changes.

Troubleshooting

If the connection times out, confirm that both devices are on the same network and allow File and Printer Sharing through Windows Firewall.

If Windows file sharing still does not work, you can install Redfish on the computer and connect to its IP address on port 20445.
