Set up a connection

Before connecting, configure file sharing on your computer:

• Set up file sharing on macOS
• Set up file sharing on Windows 10
• Set up file sharing on Windows 11

Once you have shared the folders on your computer, you can connect to them from your Android device. Owlfiles supports automatic discovery and manual setup.

Find a computer automatically

1. Open the Connections tab in Owlfiles.
2. Tap the lightning button and select a connection type, such as Windows, Mac, or NAS.
3. Computers and NAS devices on your local network appear in Network Neighborhood.

4. Tap the computer name, then enter its username and password.

If the computer belongs to a Windows domain, enter the username as Domain\UserName or UserName@Domain.

Enter a computer address manually

1. Open the Connections tab in Owlfiles.
2. Tap the lightning button and select a connection type, such as Windows, Mac, or NAS.
3. Enter the computer name or IP address.
4. Enter the username and password used to sign in to that computer.
5. Tap Save.
